Sex in the Village – A Blockbuster Movie cum Social Phenomenon

Scaredy Cat

Delimitations

1. We consider the villages which largely follow the belief of virgin marriage(post-marital sex).

Assumptions

1. The village here represents a more ancient mind.

Factual information relevant to hypothesis

1. Sex in the City is a hilarious movie. (Listed as Rom-Com on all major Movie ratings websites.)
2. Sex in the City represents some specific frustrations of normal city life.
3. Humour is fueled by the following factors :

Relevance to reality OR Accuracy provided it stands politically correct.
Ego boost (Mockery and sarcasm is the order of a large number of jests.)

4.. There exists an inverse relation between the time delay of sex and the pleasure thus obtained from the performance. (Evidence provided by the existence of “foreplay”)

Conjecture
The movie “Sex in the village”, if made; would prove to be a greater hit than Sex In The City.

Reasoning
Sex in the city basically represents all the frustrations of city life with a lot of humor;
as great as that may be, “sex in the city”(literal) itself can seem rather daunting and frustrating for multiple reasons :

1. Everybody fantasizes about another
2. Nobody is happy either way
3. A person has sex with one while thinking of another
4. That person is with another but thinking of yet another-thus propagating a vicious and seemingly infinite cycle of disappointment and lack of fulfillment.
5. Every person’s aim basically becomes to mate with the next person, so all the ‘pleasure’ is only relative.
6. In the end , a person is left wondering
“Am I really happy?”
“Would it be better with XYZ ?” – The added mental stress nearly nullifies that which sex alleviates.
7. So ,the problem comes down to that of a plethora of choices. As sad as it may be to hear: it is impossible to be with every handsome/beautiful man/woman in the world for many reasons :

One will be disgraced by society in general by being called a ‘sex mongrel’ or something similar even though one basically feels what most of the other people do.
One will at least be 10 years older by the time one is even halfway there. Age usually acts as a deterrent in sexual appeal. So one’s sex rate(sex per unit time) will probably go down.

Thus, by living in a city not only did the enjoyment of the pleasure of one person become unattainable due to fantasizing and greed – but also, in the process one has became a lot older, gained the reputation of a cougar and never truly experienced the unadulterated pleasure sex can bring.

Rather, everything is competitive and comparative. There is nothing absolute or pure. Furthermore, the city dwellers laugh when they watch a movie like “Sex in The City” because they can relate to it and the ridiculousness of the situation.
However , it is believed that humans would much rather laugh while at the same time escape from reality because , to put it simply, it works on multiple levels(which is why many adults find shows like Simpsons and Family Guy entertaining).
This is where the “Sex In The Village” theory becomes quintessential to the very theme of cinematic escapism.

So now, what “Sex In The Village” brings is a new lifestyle all together:

In a village , or a smaller society (with respect to population) , each person is associated with another, i.e. there is a concept of a ‘pair’ rather than an ‘individual’.
There isn’t much choice and societal disposition has forbidden multiple sexual partners. Hence thoughts of promiscuity are automatically eliminated from a person’s mind.
Therefore, all sexual interactions are absolute, pure and are not with respect to any past experience with some other person(As is evident in the promotion of virgin matrimony practices.)
While fantasies may be possible, people will enjoy what they get because they know they can never have anything else since they are bounded by the ideology of a single sex partner-which is only promoted by the submissive nature of the villagers. When a person does not know of an alternative , he/she derives the maximum utility/satisfaction from whatever he/she has. Thus a limited choice may in fact be an advantage.

Now,
when a city person sees “Sex In The Village” he/she realizes that this is what satisfaction might truly be.
He/She might laugh at the ‘strange’ traditions and customs but in this way he/she is not only escaping but is also enjoying (since they are laughing) the movie.

When the city dwellers realize the advantages of a rural/village sex life and that a lack of options, in this respect, might actually serve to be a good thing. This gives rise to a wave of change.
Soon Facebook pages ,blog posts and newspaper/magazine articles on what “Sex In The Village” represents will arise – in this manner the “Sex In The Village” ideology gains media attention and global recognition.

The movie becomes more than just a movie. It becomes a social phenomenon. A revolution of sorts: A paradigm shift.
It successfully plays on the people’s frustrations , allows them to escape the frustrations of city life and at the same time allows them to have a good time watching it. It is the ultimate recipe for success.
So while “Sex In The Village” might not sound very appealing (phonetically) but that’s exactly what it’s about :
“Surface value is superficial”

In this manner , the movie is humorous , an escape route and has a deeper significance.
While “Sex In The City” might sound appealing and women with high heels might look good; In a small village where people work and wear whatever they can obtain to get the job done (i.e, functional clothing rather than fashionable)- the idea of beauty is basic and elementary.

So it takes half the effort for both-the man and the woman to look ‘appealing’. Thus cutting down on the effort to engage in intercourse.
It’s also double the pleasure due to the absolute rather than the relative nature of the sexual pleasure involved between the two parties (mentioned earlier).
Hence, by considering these 2 factors alone- sex in a village is roughly 4 times as pleasurable as that in the city.

The movie “sex in the village” will bring to light how often and with how much efficiency the villagers are gaining pleasure – the prude city people may enjoy thinking ill of the villagers, but at the same time will desire such a simplistic and pleasurable lifestyle. They will come out of the cinemas laughing but wondering how different attaining pleasure could be.

Social Implications of The Conjecture

1. Films based in rural areas have an equal chance of being box-office hits if done right.
2. The villagers may just engage in coitus more than the city people.
3. Face value has little or no say in prize value – a book mustn’t be judged by its cover and a film mustn’t be judged by the title. A simplistic life may be a much more pleasurable one.
4. Acts of affection and pleasure may be substantially more pleasurable if they’re not competitive in nature (i.e. based on factors such as :who is wearing branded clothes / who has had the most partners etc.)
5. ‘Elementary’ and ‘Pleasure’ are not contrasting themes.
6. Give the rural people their chance!

    Conclusions and Inference

1. Given the assumptions, “Sex In The Village” can become a greater and more successful movie than “Sex In The City”.
2. The rural sex-life can be a lot more pleasurable than the city sex-life. This is counter-intuitive.
